Abigail was a defenseless young girl being taken advantage of by Proctor. Before she met him she didn’t know anything about Salem. Referring to the tree of knowledge, she blindly took apart of the “fruit” that she was not aware would make her become so open. Abigail didn’t have a choice but to accept the “knowledge” that was being given to her because she had become so vulnerable towards Proctor. Her eyes were being opened to the behaviors going on around her that she didn’t know before. Abigail had fallen in love with Proctor but he didn’t want to continue the affair because he had a wife & kids at home. He is in the wrong because he committed a sin. Proctor didn’t have to come on to Abigail because he knew he was married but Abigail wasn’t aware of it & when she found out, it had become too late because she didn’t know she was being taken advantage of.
